Today, Tess started out by explaining this Thursdays work was all about “Traveling Blind“.
Traveling blind is a method of storytelling, where you basically start a story without knowing the end. This method is a lot in the animation industry. Tess showed some examples, one of them was called “Lynda Barry”. She is an amazing storyteller, how she made one of the amazing story one a plane, using a piece of paper and a help of a child. A random child, helped her make her a story into reality. Coming up, with a story is super difficult for other and specially for me. But having these workshops, helps to learn from each one in my class. Some of my classmates help me push myself further and others probably going to help me in other ways. I have a long way to go, but that is the exciting part, I’m travelling blind not knowing how my story will end.
We also watched a film called, “When the day breaks”. This film was very interesting, it began with character that wanted milk, for her breakfast and on the way to the groceries she bums into a male character. That look at her with an upsetting face expression, distracted the male character crossed the street without paying any attention to the road. After being hit by a car the female character felt guilty and ran home. Trying to process what happened, she finished her breakfast and it end there. That’s only a rough summary of the film.
After that Tess let us paired up, I had the opportunity to work with a good friend of mines. Dylan and I had amazing ideas, even though we didn’t receive the task yet. Then Tess gave us a guide where, it would help us with the story building.

Using this guide Dylan and me, where able to create a murder mystery, where the mayor suicided himself and then the case, went to a detective called Clumsy. Detective Clumsy was friends with the mayor, so Clumsy decided to investigate. But then he discovers that his friend didn’t commit suicide and it was actually murder, but by whom?

To this part, I worked with Dylan, then for the next part of the exercise, Tess decided to exchange the groups partners, I had the privilege to work with an amazing storyteller called Nat. Where we came up with a lot of theories, who have done it. My favourite was the chief police, since he had an affair with the mayors wife. That’s the reason why the chief wanted to brush off the case as closed, because so he could be with the mayors wife. We did an amazing story, where we had to do a presentation about it. I was a bit nervous but I think I did good.
