Week 3 – Tuesday – 11th of October

Morning Lesson (Theory Lesson)

Today was insane! We saw Sylvie in person for the first time. After awhile, Sylvie started by discussing film analysis, using different kind of questions and analyses. Using the guide that Sylvie showed us, how to use formal analysis to analyse. Sylvie saying this, it reminds me so much of college. Having a guide that helps you going though the process definitely helps. Also, we have learned what Diegetic/Non-Diegetic means and how important it is.

Personal reflection:

  • What I’m happy with…
  • What I learned…
  • What can be worked on…
  • How can I take this further?

Reflecting on your Practice is to:

• document the making of something
• analyse the process of making it
• declare what has been learnt
• imagine something 2
• plan the making of something 2
• make something 2

Afternoon Lesson (Guest Animator: Mariana Leal)

In Marianas presentation, we could clearly see that she did a lot of amazing stuff and how she put a lot of work to it. She spoke a lot about collaborating with others, importantly with different subjects, like media-, music-, graphic- and illustration students. I liked that she said it’s not that important to have an art style, but to enjoy the process, the connections you make and the friends you make through out university. Also, it’s very important to make connections with people in the industry, when going to film festivals. My goal on the Portugal trip is to make a lot of connections and see what the industry has to offer.
